Amherst Man Killed in Rt 113 Collision

James Carrow Jr., 25, of 194 B Bar B Mobile Homes Park, died at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a two car crash at the Rt 113 and Murray Ridge Road intersection. Karl Moes, 42, of Amherst, was treated and released. police say Carrow ran a stop sign.

Market trading may set NYSE record this week

New York trading pace points to a possible NYSE record as turnover hits 20.48 million shares for a second 20 million day this week. The four day total climbs to 76.31 million, approaching the week’s prior high of 84.12 million shares. The Dow rose 5.89 to 808.53 amid late profit taking, gaining 54 points in 10 sessions.

Area residents may face raise in city income tax

William F Naegel reports area residents, including Elviians, could pay an extra 0.25 to 1 percent in city income taxes as Cleveland ends reciprocity. A 1.25 percent plan would split 1 percent for the employment city and 0.25 percent for the residence city, with negotiations to avoid a 2 percent rate.
