Board Replies To Sherrill Report In Ohio
Columbus Aug 31 Members of the State Cosmetology board disputed the Sherrill committee plan to abolish the board noting abolition would cost the state 50 000 annually. Chairman Mrs Francis Dial said the board has 42 415 in 1935 appropriation and an estimated 90 100 revenue for the year. A 56 000 surplus would go to the general fund. Since 1933 the board issued 15 000 licenses at 3 to 5 each and licensed 41 beauty culture schools at 100 each. In 1935 the board handled 66 court cases with 429 convictions. Dial called the committee claim that the board taxes the industry and the public absurd.
