Children Gain Average Of 5.36 Pounds At Health Camp
Sixty six children who spent part or all of a 14 week period at the Children's Health Camp at the county fair grounds are back in school heavier and healthier. Fifty eight stayed the full period gaining 314 pounds in total or about 5.38 pounds per child. Complete physical exams including X rays were given before admission and rechecked in the last two weeks. A directors meeting is set for Wednesday at 8 p m to review the results. The camp was a FERA project sponsored by Lorain County Health Dept and city health departments with the Tuberculosis and Health Association.

Alleged Bomber Smetna Brought From Pa for Arraignment
Thomas Smetna, 25, of 3064 Fast 13rd Street, was transported Sunday from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to county jail for arraignment in common pleas court on an indictment alleging his involvement in bombing the Steel and Tubes Company plant and the Avon power line tower. The Sherrill committee urged Governor Davey to transform the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home at Sandusky into a state hospital for the insane. About 12 000 students in Elyria and Lorain County schools are in classes as the 1935 36 year opens. Elyria public schools report 4 499 on day one, down 35 from last year’s 4 534. Western Automatic begins new factory building project
The Western Automatic Machine and Screw Company started construction on a brick and concrete one story plant 190 by 216 feet after awarding the contract to Sam W. Emerson Company of Cleveland. Manager Bert C. Franklin said the project is a building replacement program to modernize the plant, enabling high speed machines and heavier equipment, with more one story units to follow as business warrants.
