Elyria’s 1885 Democratic Club memory and Seward family legacy
Readable fragments recall Elyria’s first Democratic Club posing in 1885 with top hats to honor Grover Cleveland’s 1884 election, plus notes on Michael McAvey and several locals. The column then profiles Thomas Seward a railroad pioneer who helped install tracks to Elyria, his long service, and his large Irish family, with obituaries and later community notices.
