Elyria City Council will decide whether to place either a temporary or permanent city income tax increase on the November ballot. The 0.5 percent tax, set to expire in July 1989, could raise about $3 million annually. its future hinges on Aug. 25 ballot deadline and a two thirds council vote for charter change to allow private meetings on sensitive matters.

North Ridgeville High School will offer a college English sequence for seniors in the 1988 89 year as part of a first in Lorain County dual credit pilot with Lorain County Community College NRHS students can transfer nine hours to LCCC or other colleges and may use campus facilities while enrolled The program costs 270 dollars and eligible seniors may receive an LCCC presidential scholarship reimbursement Community members may also enroll, widening access to college courses near home.
