Barbershop fantasies and a vivid shoreline of life
A rambling narrated scene inside a barber chair on a summer Saturday. The speaker jokes about facials and radical salon theatrics, imagines dramatic barber misfires, recalls Irene Castle, and hints at future adventures from a Hotel Seville trim to a no hands bicycle ride. The tone is wry and self-mocking.

A Daydream of Mildred and a Candy Box
A speaker imagines gifting Mildred a five pound candy box at $1.50 per pound, then pivots to a book or a purse pencil. He contemplates small acts of generosity, laments social pretensions in New York, and ends by deciding against the box and pencil while contemplating a tip for a barber. The fragment blends humour and social satire with personal vanity.
