Elyria Man Beautifies Riverfront By Garden And Rock Wall
Karl W. Klein of Elyria transformed 57 feet of East branch Black River frontage into a rock garden and lawn. He reclaimed a dumping ground into a scenic strip with logs, flowers, and a water edge gallery. Klein notes neighbors doubted him yet his garden costs under ten dollars in materials and numerous passersby stop to view it. He has lived in Elyria since 1904 and runs a shoe repair shop on West Avenue. If others beautified their frontage, Klein believes the river would be a top local sight.
