Surplus of Women Dominates Spain’s Election Question
Aug 17 Madro Spain faces a major issue as a female voter surplus could shape the Second Republic. Women are registered under Article 36 granting equal electoral rights to both sexes at 23 and older, with three women deputies elected in 1931. Census counts show more women voters than men in major cities, yet turnout remains uncertain since Spain’s census-based electorate differs from voluntary registration.
