Group Organized To Serve Migrant Workers
New York thirty years ago churchwomen in the East started a day care for migrant farm workers children. The mobile ministry now runs with 200 workers across 25 states in summer providing recreation education and community living benefits, helping families fit into hosts communities despite being displaced on wheels. Edith Lowry, longtime director, notes migrants are often ostracized and treated as outsiders by hosts.
