A civil service examination for the police chief position in Elyria will be held Sept. 20 following the death of Chief E J Stankard on July 26. The two captains, Clelland E Andress and Clare E Parker, are eligible to compete. A captaincy vacancy will be filled by exam with Lieuts. Boggs and Flood and Sgt. Kenneth Martin eligible for the captaincy, while Sgt. Martin could rise if Flood becomes captain. Other sergeants and patrolmen remain governed by two year rules for eligibility.

Bellevue Women Injured When Car Is Forced Off Road
Two Bellevue women suffered injuries when their car was driven off the road by a dump truck on Route 113 near Howe Hill. Donna Foos, 19, and Mrs. Robert Brandt, 18, were taken to Am sherst Hospital with back, face, chin, elbow, and knee injuries. The dump truck was hauling lime all day. state patrolmen are investigating.

Five Youths Fined After Vermilion on the Lake Riot
Five of seven youths arrested in Vermilion-on-the-Lake for last Sunday night’s riot were fined 160 dollars each and had four month jail terms suspended. Defendants Edward Dean Angelo Mariotti Dominick Mariotti Robert Hally and John Fantin, all Lorain residents, faced arraignment before Mayor George W. Davies. Two 17 year olds were sent to county juvenile authorities.
