Alma and Area Attend Various Business and Social Events

Local notes report Geo Sharrar in Elsie on business and Mrs R H Brown in Grand Rapids. W F Burdict of Shepherd called on Alma merchants, Dr M Pringle hosted Detroit visitors, and families from Crystal Ithaca and Mt Pleasant were seen in town. Alma Lodge and civic groups planned events, with several residents traveling to Detroit and Detroit car chatter noted. County Poorhouse contract bids awarded and plans approved

The county opened bids for the new Poor house with Spence Bros of Saginaw for general construction at 1 051 001 dollars Cadillac Heating and Plumbing Co for plant 3 600 dollars A E Phinney and Son 33 400 for Ithaca plumbing electrical work 1 084 dollars and H Barnes Shepherd 40 015 dollars total. Architect E M Wood’s plans were accepted and he will supervise construction ensuring a first class job. Detroit Trust Co purchased the Gratiot county bonds for the erection at about 200 dollars.
