Lost Home Near Town Burned After Celebration
A couple, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Raycraft, learned their residence two miles north of town burned to the ground while they attended the McCormick day celebration. The five year old child in the orchard spotted smoke from the kitchen windows and neighbors tried to save belongings, but the fire raged too quickly. The new home and furnishings, built after a May 6 loss on the same site, were insured for only 100 dollars. Neighbors assisted with shelter and essentials.
