Lansing, St Johns & St Louis Electric Road to Start June 15

Work begins June 15 on the Lansing St Johns and St Louis Electric Railroad with completion aimed for November 15 1901. The contract signed by Mills Norris and Perceival of Port Huron sets a projected cost around 1.5 million dollars and lists Lansing DeWitt St Johns Maple Rapids Ithaca Alma and St Louis as line towns. Contractors own 60 percent of capital stock and private aid along the route totaling 100000 has not yet been fully raised.

Pangborn Mesmerizes Indians In One Sided Alma Loss

Pangborn dominated the Mt. Pleasant Indians last Saturday, silencing their hitters with movem ents that left them unable to connect until late in the game. Alma, weakened from a prior matchup, fell behind as Pangborn’s pitching held them to a distant score while Indians’ defense and sportsmanship kept the contest respectable. Final score line not fully shown.

The Alpha Thetas Night Of Pleasant Society Program

The Alpha Theta public last Monday night offered a unique literary society program. Miss Foote presented an essay on James Whitcomb Riley, Miss Butler read an original story, and Misses Ohlsholm and Hard closed the literary portion with a disense tonnized piece. Messinger opened with a piano solo, Hooper sang, and the society song finished the exercises with the Zeta Sigma boys joining in chorus.

Free oration class at Douglas and Ferris schools

The Douglas and Ferris schools held free amen commitnent exercises at Disciple church Ferris Center on Thursday evening May 41. Teachers Chas. A Hall and J. M. Collins led small classes with six and three members who delivered fine orations. Prof. J Grant Lamson gave the clues address on The Average Boy Will Probably be More Careful in the Future. Harold Carter, a married man in the southwest town, drank what he thought was epsom salt but was zinc sulfate. rescuers Dru Sweetland and Lamb pumped his stomach, leaving him with only a stomach ache.
