Feeding test and mixing feeds for hogs at Oklahoma station
In an eighty pig feeding trial over sixteen days using corn chop buttermilk barley and sorg hum forage the average daily gain was .51 lb versus 1.22 lb with corn chop and buttermilk. Hogs grazing a corn field yielded 17 bushels per acre and gained 1.2 lb per head. Grain valued at seven cents per pound gave the hogs a value of 63.15 cents per bushel. A method to mix feed in water uses a barrel above a V shaped trough with an auger hole and a stick to regulate slop flow, first adding water then feed, to be ready for the next feeding.
