Christmas Sunday School Stunt Party Projects Gifts

East Side Sunday School and Be ginners classes staged a Christmas program at the Presbyterian Church with a toy and fruit drive. Children dressed for missions delivered gifts and sang carols while a stereopticon displayed Christmas pictures. The missionary offering raised nearly fifteen dollars as Santa handed out prizes.

Christmas Dinner at Masonic Home Seeks Festive Tree

The Masonic Home on State Street prepares a Christmas dinner with pounds of candies nuts cranberries and plenty of other treats. Santa Claus has donated generously this year and parcel post packages have been many for residents. At four this afternoon the O F S and F A M No 44 plan a Christmas tree and musical program in the room formerly noted.

Holiday Spirit Promised by Grand Rapids Masonic Lodges

Superintendent Montague received five checks of 10 dollars each from Grand Rapids Masonic lodges to fund a memorable 1913 holiday season at the home. The aim is to enrich community cheer with a gymnasium event and festive plans underway.

Park House Passes To New Management In Indiana Trio

The Park House changes hands as Dr. L. H. Harrison and Mrs Harrison join with L. C. Harding and H. H. Tess from Hutler Indiana to run the hotel and sanitarium. Harding oversees the business, Harrison heads the sanitarium work, Tess handles clerical duties, James Stafford remains as clerk, and most staff stay. Planned improvements include expanding the mineral springs and sanitarium operations.

Buff Orpingtons Win Big At Shiawassee Poultry Show

Andrew Shaw of this city won three first prizes at Owosso's Shiawassee County Poultry Show held December 18 to 20. He claimed first for cockerel, first for pullet, plus third and fourth in pullet events and first for breeding pen, showcasing Buff Orpingtons.

Alma students to attend Michigan delegation at YM C A convention

Two Alma college students will join one hundred twenty five Michigan delegates representing the state at the quadrennial YMCA convention in Kansas City. The group will convene in Chicago on December 30 and travel by a special train with five sleepers and a club car under Burton B. Johnson of Lansing, Michigan YMCA. Emily Beach and Albert Esselstyn of Alma are named among the attendees.

Tracy Schultheiss of St Louis visited Alma on Monday. J Barney has bought 221 percent acres of timber land 114 miles south of Alma, the C A Smith sugar bush, and operates a crew cutting it into wood.

Mrs Gaffney Heads to California for Six Weeks

Mrs Sylvia Gaffney and her son Russell left Detroit yesterday to visit her sister. She plans to go to Alameda California on Friday to spend New Year’s with her son John. They will stay six weeks, and on return she will buy springsteck in Chicago for the spring season.

The Killarney Girls at the Lyceum

An appreciative audience filled the opera house Wednesday night the 17th for the Killarney Girls in Irish costume. Rita Rich led seven gifted performers through a varied program of violin solos cello and piano works highlighting Irish folklore and heart throbs. The Lyceum committee secured an entertaining and spirited show praised for its wit legends and songs.

Accident at Alma plant injures factory worker on boiler

A factory employee at the Alma plant suffered a serious fall while oiling a boiler on Monday night. He tumbled about fifteen feet to the cement floor and was unconscious on rescue. Dr. Garnier treated him and he was taken home by auto. He sustained a deep head wound, a severely cut tongue, and internal side injuries. Mr and Mrs FF W Ruggles departed Saturday for a four week visit with relatives in Ware Massachusetts.

J C Gossett formerly transferred from Michigan State Telephone Co local manager in Port Huron to the plant department has been reassigned to Alma as district manager beginning January 1. His family had not moved at the time but prepared to ship goods when the new post was announced. Mrs Gossett will resettle in the same house.

Grand Trunk Depot Open at Owosso After February 2

After February 2 the Grand Trunk depot at Owosso will be ready for use. trains will discontinue stopping at the old depot and at the Junction, and will stop only at the new depot. Five o'clock vesper service features a Christmas program with hymns, prayers, and organ pieces.

Christmas Program Delights Garin School Community

Garin school draws large crowd of parents and friends for a Christmas program across grades. In the high school auditorium the chorus, solos, and band performed including The End of a Perfect Day and The Gingerbread Man. Classes in ward and Union schools presented nativities, songs, recitations, and a Christmas play while teachers provided treats and a grand march ended the day.
