Doctors unveil new procedures to curb extreme obesity
Surgeons report two novel methods to limit stomach size in severely obese patients. One wraps the stomach with polypropylene mesh to prevent expansion, the other places a balloon in the abdomen to compress the stomach. Both aim to reduce complications seen with earlier operations and avoid extensive intestinal bypasses.
