End of Unicameral Proposed By Group
A bipartisan committee of four Democrats and four Republicans will ask Nebraska voters to replace the one house unicameral with a two house partisan legislature. State party chairs will circulate petitions to place the measure on the 1954 ballot, proposing a constitutional amendment to scrap the 43 member unicameral in 1957. The group says deliberation led to adoption of the best features of state governments. A statewide bipartisan committee will organize county representatives to push the campaign, facing opposition from unicameral supporters.
