Pasture Research Aiming To Improve Milk Quality At Nebraska
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station researchers under Prof. I L Hathaway study rotational grazing on 40 acres with fertilizer and sprinkler irrigation to maximize pasture use for dairy cows. The plan compares pasture versus drylot feeding, examines Vitamin A in grass produced milk and butter, bloat risks with alfalfa, drought and water needs, and how to establish legume in bromegrass while tracking production, breeding efficiency, and lifetime production over a decade.
