The Nebraska Wheat Show will judge samples on a regional basis this year. Western central and eastern regions will award ribbons and prizes for top winter wheat, with an overall state champion and reserve champion chosen from all entries. Special trophies will go to the regional placings.

Schedule For Mail Changes Delay Dispatch Times
Postmaster J. W. Martinosky announced changes in train schedules effective October 1 delaying dispatch of east and west mail by one hour. East and west dispatch close times shift from 6 to 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 6 a.m. for certain routes. Parcel post rates rise also effective October 1 under ICC approval, not needing legislative action.

Couple jailed over check raising case in Cheyenne County
Mr and Mrs Genaro Reyes are jailed in Cheyenne County awaiting a hearing on a charge they raised a returned check from $10 to $17. They were moved from Fort Collins Colorado to Sidney by Deputy Sheriff Arnold Braasch. The check was written by F R Anderson for whom Reyes worked in Sidney.

Thugs Beat Man Left For Dead On Highway 30
Cliff Bowers, a 29 year old carpenter of Muscatine Iowa, told Deputy Sheriff Arnold Braasch he was beaten and robbed of over 60 dollars after meeting two men in a local beer parlor. They drove away, and he was dumped near Highway 30 at Point of Rocks. Bowers was found by Herb and Mrs Stevens at 7 45 pm and rushed to a hospital where he was treated and not hospitalized.

Sidney Youth Center board members meet this Tuesday at 7 30 PM at the Youth Center building. A E Nimtz chairman says new and 1950 51 members should attend as officers are elected and season plans set. Built in 1949 under Rt Rev Msgr Anton Link, the center aims to serve all youths regardless of race or creed. Rotary spearheaded a community program with BPW Rotary Lions American Legion and VFW to sponsor youth activities.

Former Pitcher Norman Frazzini Killed in Korea
Denver athlete Norman Frazzini, 20, a former pitcher with the South Divide baseball team in 1950, was reported killed in action while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea. Frazzini earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, declined the latter, and died September 12 after just returning to the front. A Cathedral High School graduate, he starred in local parochial sports and had been signed by the Chicago Cubs before joining the Marines.

Kieselhorst Rites Held
John H. Kieselhorst, 85, longtime Cheyenne County resident, died at Pioneer Memorial Hospital Dalton after months of illness. Funeral services were held at his home and Weyerts Lutheran Church, with burial in Weyerts Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters and six sons, 21 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. He was born February 23, 1866 in Hanover Germany and came to the U S in 1891.

Elzia L. Carter 73 longtime Sidney resident died Sunday at a local hospital after recent illness and pneumonia. Funeral arrangements are under Gehrig Funeral Home pending relatives. Gering Votes Today On Manager Proposal
Gering residents will ballot in a special election on adopting the city manager form of government. Polls run 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with ward polling sites at North Central Gas, City Light and Water, County Courthouse, and McKinley School. Two Car Collision Causes 350 in Damages
At 9 20 Saturday morning on a U S 30 intersection west of Sidney a two car crash caused about 350 in damages. August J. Meyer Gurley and Edward W Harrell were involved in a rear end collision as Meyer's left turn was struck by Harrell. Meyer sustained 150 damage Harrell 200. A separate Sunday night crash near the Drive In on Highway 19 caused about 100 damage to William Chandler 29 when his lights failed and his car hit a bridge abutment, sheriff W W Schulz reports.
