Progressive Party Endorses Candidates in Cheyenne County

The Nebraska branch of the Conference for Progressive Political Action endorsed U.S. Senator George W. Norris, Congressman Chas. W. Beal, State Senator Chas. D. Green, and State Representative G. A. Ernst at a Lincoln meeting September 1 2. C J Osborn presided. The group includes Nebraska Farmers Union leaders and railroad unions. They plan 100000 sample ballots and back eliminating party names from ballots. The national group backs La Follette and Wheeler for president and VP.

Frank Irwin Survives Near-Dalton Car Wreck

Frank Irwin of Pine Bluffs Wyoming narrowly escaped death when his Buick coupe was struck broadside three miles south of Dalton. He suffered a fractured collar bone, serious hand and leg injuries, and deep cuts after being dragged from under the wreck as the Eckert car turned into a byroad. He was treated at Sidney's Dr Roche office and sent home Monday evening.

Sidney Choral Society to Present The Messiah in Spring

Thirty seven Sidney vocalists attended the organizing meeting at the high school and officers were elected. F O Burgess presides. Mrs BE Hyde is vice president. M E Pettibone secretary. FE W Cass treasurer. H B Smith directs. Rehearsals set for Mondays and Fridays at 7 30 pm. The Messiah will be performed during Music Week next spring with a large chorus and four solo parts.

In a clash of parties a progressive meeting filled the courthouse while Republicans tried to promote Senator Pipt. With Mike Harrington unable to speak, Green in overalls read Mike's telegram and led a thirty five minute address on LaFollette Norris Beal and related issues.

Pay Cuts Shift Election Board Wages to Counties

Election boards blame the legislature for salary cuts after repealing a statute that set first class city pay at five dollars a day with no substitute. Boards now receive county precinct pay, while one member per board serves as ballot custodian earning two dollars and mileage at three cents per mile.

F L Viach vice president of Security State Bank of South Omaha buys all stock of Liberty State Bank of Sidney. He becomes sole owner and president of Uberly State Bank with no personnel changes at present. Liberty State Bank organized April 1919 shows deposits up about 200000 in six months.

Visitor's Day at Chamber Luncheon in Cheyenne County

A Cheyenne county Chamber of Commerce luncheon featured three ministers and local leaders. Rev Wagoner urged ministers to mix with laymen. Rev Melrose and Dr Light agreed.
