Crop Estimates Hold Steady Despite Short Feed Supplies
October crop estimates from the state and federal statistics division show little change from prior figures. Hay is plentiful while grain feeds are scarce. The eastern moisture has improved and substantial winter wheat has been sown. Fifty percent of wheat remains on hand and twelve percent of last year’s corn crop. Corn condition is twelve percent of October 1, 1934 levels, with some counties reporting small grain yields in irrigated or favored areas. Projected corn production is 27,627,000 bushels, far below last year’s 106,630,000 and the 1928-32 average of 223,843,000.
