The C B Extension Club met at Mrs. Robert Van Gundy home on October 1 with Mrs. Wayne Ayres assisting. Officers elected were E A Kuehn president Charles Innes vice president Roland Biggs secretary treasurer. An lesson on Closets Storage for Clothing and Linens was given by Mrs. Ayres. U S Army and state and federal agricultural officials met at Sioux Ordnance Depot to discuss weed eradication and land management programs. Researchers Noel Hansen and Glen Viehmeyer will run soil spray and dust weed control experiments this fall, aiming to guide Nebraska weed control methods.
A special meeting of the Victory Modemakers Club was held at the home of Mrs Lawrence Sharp Tuesday evening. Mrs Leland Spindler was welcomed as a new member. Ten members attended with Mrs Clyde Johnson presiding. The gathering focused on plans for Achievement Day.
Sidney announces a new business, The Dalton Clothing Store, to be opened by Chuck Dalton and Kenny Bowman on November 15. The shop will occupy the new building on Tenth Avenue under construction for K G Miler. Details will follow in a later issue.
Urban C Gau of Omaha is assigned to Sidney with the Nebraska Safety Patrol and will begin work there Wednesday. He is among 30 candidates who completed the patrols five week training at Camp Ashland. Robert Nichok, the current Sidney patrolman, will be transferred to Chadron headquarters.
A fragment notes that Gau and another patrolman, unnamed at present, will head this assignment for the month. The text hints at upcoming details and an official designation to follow.
A. W. Lewis manager of Blome Motor and Equipment Company says record sales were achieved in the past month. Details list 54 cars consigned to the October 9 sale and reflect strong demand for used vehicles.
Fifty four cars were consigned for auction at the sale last Thursday night. Cars were put up by individuals and bought at auction by dealers from Nebraska and surrounding states.
