Eye Injury From Rifle Accident Damages Sunol Youth
Eighteen year old Bill Ehlers son of Mr and Mrs E H Ehlers of Sunol sustained a severe right eye injury when a bullet remained in a 22 rifle barrel and exploded as he tried to fire another round. He was treated in Sidney and Cheyenne and is to return for further eye specialist exams. Doctors hope to save the left eye despite the serious damage to the right.

A Union Pacific crew from Sidney was sent to Hunisley Wyoming northeast of Cheyenne late Sunday to clear up the wreck age of ten freight cars that overturned earlier that day. The local crew returned Tuesday morning. Another wreck was reported near Laramie early in the week but no assistance was requested here.

Pheasant Restocking Area Closed to Hunting near Lodgepole Creek
About seven hundred pheasants raised at the state hatchery in Norfolk have been released along Lodgepole Creek east of Sidney. The area including St. George Ranch Krueger’s Ruttner Roche and Barstow properties will be posted and closed to hunting during 1947. Wardens and local enthusiasts will monitor the zone to prevent shooting and protect the birds for next year’s population boost.

Two Hurt In 3-Car Wreck
A three car collision on Hickory Street between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues left two men with cuts and bruises. Mrs Ben Krueger of Sidney backed into a parked car of Charles Gabriel of Gurley, pushing it into a third vehicle owned by Pat Pakowsky. Gabriel and Salburg were treated and released. Krueger was charged with reckless driving and fined.
