Deposits in four Cheyenne County banks surpassed eleven million dollars at October 6, with American National Bank of Sidney alone reporting over seven million. Total deposits stood at 11 243 077 17, current well below last winter’s all time peak of about thirteen million, tied to large wheat crop marketing from 1946 and storage patterns echoing into 1947. If selling spikes again early next year, deposits may rise to a new high.

District Judge J. L. Tewell appointed Attorney P. J. Heaton to defend Chester Dickinson of Lodgepole who faces charges of assault with intent to commit murder and forcible robbery. Dickinson, held on a $2,500 bond, appeared for a preliminary hearing Saturday and requested counsel.

Hagemeister Rites Held At Potter Sunday
Funeral services were held at the Potter Methodist Church for Mrs. Dean Hagemeister 43 mother of three, who died in Denver after a long illness. The Rev. Homer Hix officiated with vocal numbers by Mrs Charles E. Smith and Marjorie Johnson. Interment followed at Potter cemetery under Craig Home for Funerals. Survived by husband, three children, one stepdaughter and parents, plus three brothers and four sisters. Out of town relatives attended.

Potter Man Revived After Gasoline Fumes Incident
William G. Smith a farmer near Potter was overcome by gasoline fumes while working on a gasoline engine in a granary. He was found irrational along the road by his brother in law and revived at home with artificial respiration before Sidney emergency crew and Dr. C H Babbitt treated him with inhalator and oxygen.

George Coulter’s Pot ter field holds over a thousand sacks of potatoes. his yield averaged 412 bushels per acre. Beet digging follows, aided by Great Western Sugar Company dumps. Experts say beet yields may lag last year due to June freezing and snow, but profits are expected. A sugar beet processing plant for Lodgepole Valley would require about five thousand acres. Hawkins Calf Takes Honors At 4-H Show
In a fast Sterling calf sale, two Cheyenne county 4-H members led in the light class. Bob Hawkins Hereford steer won the light class overall, bought 35 cents a pound after pasture feeding from Verlin Livingston’s herd. Ronald McMillan placed third at 32 cents a pound. Other Busy Body and Dry Land Toughies members exhibited calves, all Herefords, with local and regional attendance and buyers from Safeway, Armour, Elks Club, and Sterling Legion.

Previously a signed health statement by the veteran would suffice if filed by August 1 1947 or within three months after lapse. Eddie Roben Dead Baseball Manager and Sidney Merchants
Eddie Roben, who managed Sid ney’s great semi pro baseball teams in 1920 and 1921, died about two weeks ago at Longview Washington where he had lived for several years. Roben came to Sidney from Omaha to give this town its finest baseball teams. He led the Sidney Merchants to the Denver Post tournament title in 1921 before moving to the west coast. He married Ruth Burkhardt of Sidney in 1921.
