Barbara Geis bids farewell to two tiny poodles sent from Ovid Colorado to New Brunswick New Jersey aboard the 9 20 a m flight. Mr and Mrs Geis operate kennels in Ovid and ship many puppies by air. The father poodle stands seven inches tall and valued at 1000 dollars.
Sidney boards discuss band trip costs to the Rose Parade in Pasadena and approve bus facilities limits. They review oil exploration activity west of Sidney with several drill tests reporting oil and gas shows as new wells and farmouts are announced in the region.
Cheyenne county treasurer Mable Jorgenson says by Monday afternoon 3,934 regular and 444 probationary licenses have been sold. She notes the waiting line is gone and window clerks can serve customers immediately.
Dr. Floyd Miller state education commissioner seeks an attorney general ruling on establishing a state supported trade school at Sioux Depot before title to the property transfers from Federal to State. Until the opinion arrives no action will be taken and October 1966 is the earliest start date.
William Donald Ewert 55 of Gurley died this morning at his home after a year of declining health. Born August 27, 1910 in Byron Nebraska he moved to Gurley in 1918 with his parents. He married Lillian Schroeder on August 27, 1937 in Rising City Nebraska and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Survived by his wife two sons Clifford and Richard one daughter Donna four brothers and five sisters and three grandchildren. Services pending at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home.
Josie Robirds, 88, died in Penrose Hospital Colorado Springs after years of failing health. Rosary is scheduled Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Walters Funeral Home Sterling. Services set for 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Peetz.

Waldo H. Dearing longtime Sioux Army Depot executive assistant leaves to become Chief of the Management Support Office at NASA Mississippi Test Facility. He is a Nebraska native and WWII veteran who earned the Bronze Arrowhead and a Presidential Citation. He and his family will relocate to Pass Christian Mississippi.
Kenneth Noteboom of Sidney Industrial Corp told Washington experts the Sidney firm behind a novel fishing pole holder by R. H. Wester seeks advice and financial aid to expand markets. The group also discussed federal programs to fund a dormitory type building for Sidney Business Institute students.
The Cheyenne County Soil and Water Conservation District schedules its annual recognition dinner for Tuesday Oct 12 at 6 30 pm at the Youth Center. Orville Kaschke Alliance Western representative will MC with Warren Fairchild Lincoln SWC Commission executive secretary as principal speaker. Awards honor outstanding soil and water conservation effort.
