Government urged to reforest denuded lands nationwide

Chief Forester Greeley of the U S Department of Agriculture argues the government should plant its own denuded forest lands and restore them to productivity to set an example for states and private owners. Over 2 000 000 acres need reforestation yet only 11 565 acres in national forests were replanted last year, a figure he calls deceptive due to fires sweeping the west adding to denuded areas.
