Schoolmen push state aid to fund education
NSSBA aims for full funding of state aid to schools shifting tax load from property taxes to sales and income taxes. Legislator and education leaders warn of a tough fight next year as rural districts call for changes and equalization to ease taxation. Local officials highlight that aid hasn’t reduced taxes despite improvements. In related notes, 16 year old Paul Lewinwirth dominated juvenile kayak nationals with two firsts, two seconds, and two thirds in Hanover last summer.
