Sidney Unted Fund Nears Quota as Donations Grow

Collections and pledges toward the Sidney Unted Fund reach 9 729 28 dollars with expected additions bringing total near the 10 000 mark. The 12 700 dollar goal for 1971 remains $2 700 away and officials urge broader participation to ensure all nine agencies receive near their requested budgets. Large contributions expected could add about 1 000 dollars.

Sidney Jaycees pick November 22 for a house to house Honey Sunday sale at $1 per container to raise funds for the Tri County Association for the Mentally Retarded and the Environmental Cottage of Educational Service Unit 14. Gerald Tremain urges residents to buy, with proceeds staying in the area to furnish and equip the Cottage and to help establish a residence for out of town children and local trainees.

Collision damage in two car crash at 20th and Linden

Sidney Police report a 3 10 p m Tuesday collision involved a 1967 Chevrolet driven by LeRoy H Kindred of 2682 Monte Vista and a 1959 Hillman driven by Steven Palmer of Parkview Drive. Damages were $10 to Kindred’s car and $15 to Palmer’s.

Forecast shows fair and mild conditions this afternoon with increasing clouds tonight. A light rain and light snow chance exists late tonight and Thursday with colder temperatures. Highs 50 to 60 this afternoon, lows 25 to 35 tonight, and highs in the 40s Thursday. Snow potential Friday and Sunday, warmer Saturday. Lows 15 to 25.

National Farmers Organization members at Dude's Steak House heard farm income drop eight percent since 1952 while food prices rose 29 percent. Joe Killien urged cooperation to survive and Frank Jones urged participation in orderly grain marketing. Delegates named for the national convention included Arthur Holt Norman Steffens and several couples. An NFO office opened in Gering at 1442 10th Ave with Marcella Lewis as secretary. The next NFO gathering is set for December 7 at the National Guard Armory.

Decker's Store Opens New Complex and Grand Plans

State to auction five oil leases in Dundy and Box Butte counties

The State Board of Educational Lands and Funds will sell oil and gas leases on state owned land on Dec 1. One tract listed is in Box Butte County, all of Dec 16 27 50. The other five tracts are in Dundy County.

Airman Home On Leave Struck and Killed by Truck

Airman Dolphas R Thompson 22, on 30 day furlough from Karatos AFB Turkey, died when a northbound semi struck him after he jumped toward a stalled car on Highway 19 three miles south of Lorenzo. Six Year Old Struck By Car In Tuesday Collision

Mitchell McGowan six years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ward McGowan of 1743 Dodge, was hit at 3 15 p m Tuesday while crossing Illinois toward Dixie Discount and turning back. The Ford driven by Helen M Tallmage of rural Sidney struck him on the hip, causing facial abrasions and hip bruises. He did not require hospitalization or stay home from school.

Nebraska oil output above 925000 barrels in September

Nebraska produced more than 925 thousand barrels of oil in September, with a daily average of 30,865 barrels, about the same as August. The Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission issued 26 drilling permits in October and projects brisk drilling for the rest of the year, driven by new discoveries in Cheyenne and Morrill counties and the Pebble Field near the Colorado line.
