Editors commend the cheerleaders pep club pep band and fans for strong support of the Red Raider football team this season. Players and coaches receive praise for team spirit despite outcomes as fans hope this pride sets a lasting example for future Red Raider sports participants and enthusiasts.
This issue’s playmate is a Sidney native born July 3 1960 now a senior. He attended North Ward Elementary Sidney Junior and Senior High School and is active in football wrestling and S Club. He attends Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with hobbies including hunting riding motorcycles and cake decorating. He once collected cigarette butts from smokers as a child. Our last playmate was Holly Atkins.
Dates announced for junior and senior high schools with sessions in the high school building. November 10 schedule runs 2 30 to 6 pm by last name blocks T through Z 2 30 3 30 and N through S 3 30 5 20 with 5 00 to 6 00 reserved for late arrivals. November 11 sessions 8 am to 2 30 pm split J M 8 00 9 30 E I 9 30 11 00 and A D 1 00 2 30 with 11 30 12 00 for those missing appointments.
Sidney High School's Future Homemakers of America sponsor a Mr Legs contest for girls to submit photos of their favorite pair of boys legs. Entry is 25 cents and due by November 15 with voting by FHA members after school the next week.
The Art Club makes Christmas gift items for sale to raise funds with prices from 75 cents to 2.50. They plan another mural as a school service project with undecided location. Julie Meusburger Tammy Fish and Sally Borcher won the recent cookie decorating event per sponsor Mildred Elwell.
Sidney High conducted a nursery rhyme quiz featuring Hey Diddle Diddle and Little Boy Blue. Students like Roxie Correll Melanie Rohde and Jody Wamsley offered varied versions of the rhymes and a final standard recitation was shared.
Millard school district voters defeated a proposed year-round schedule that would have added 45 days to the year split into five terms from August to August. Principals and students weighed benefits like cost cuts against tradition and summer jobs, with no consensus to adopt.
