The VICA organization is producing aluminum and walnut desk plaques as a money making project available by special order. A member dinner was held for all VICA members at Buffalo Bend last Tuesday night.
FBLA members held a regular meeting last Thursday to elect officers for 1977 78. The new team includes Wes Smith president Tim Schnieder vice president Ken Franzen secretary Cindy Sweet treasurer Ann Belieu parliamentarian Kevin Hammond reporter and Kim Krueger historian. A tea for the officers who served FBLA last year is planned.
Cindy Thurow won first with 316 dollars, Dennis Humphrey second with 315, and Ken Crookshank third with 262.69 in the SHS Rock a-thon. Prizes totaled 100, 60, and 40 in collector stamps. Sponsor Tim Tones notes 3487.85 raised, with 310 spent on expenses and small allocations for films, prizes, and donuts.
Sidney High School will run a 30 hour classroom and 6 hour driving driver education course directed by Carl Crouse. Classes begin May 31 at 8 a.m. and run weekdays through June 17, involving 14 sessions, films, speakers, projects, and a notebook. About 20 to 25 students will complete six hours of driving, with certificates awarded upon full completion, primarily for St Patrick's High students and Sidney upperclassmen not previously certified. Sophomores from Sidney High Class of 1977-78 may take the course during the regular year, with some selected sophomores able to apply for the summer session due to scheduling.
