Sidney High tracksters compete at state meet in Omaha
Sidney High School sent three athletes Jaye Kieselhorst Rod Challburg and Wyatt Lurber to the state track meet in Omaha May 2020 Coach Dick Osterday praised Jaye for a fast finals run in the high hurdles though he did not place Rod competed in shot put reaching 51 feet and Wyatt faced a hurdle misstep in prelims Osterday noted the event offered a learning experience especially for underclassmen and sophomores with aspirations for future state appearances.

Tournament continues in girls intramural tennis
The second annual Girls Intramural Tennis Tournament began May 9 with thirteen entrants. Brackets were used, best two of three sets. Losers moved to a consolation bracket. Shari Kelley, last year's champion, faces Belinda Hawks in the finals. Participants include Patti Gehrig Judy Long Tanja Jung Becky Hawks Pam Wamsley Connie Cramer Luanne Vorster Leigh Ann Brumfield Lori Lopez Carolyn Meier and Jarma Zilmer.

Sidney Girls Track Team Shines at State Meet
In the 1977 season three Sidney athletes reached the state meet. Rainy Schrock won the 100 yard dash prelim and placed high in finals, Tammy Fish set a mile record and Beth Gretch ran the hurdles well though not finals-qualifying. Coach Dan Garrett praised hard work amid poor weather and noted thirteen school records set including Schrock, Fish and Selzer in multiple events. He said the team established potential for state title contention despite depth limits.
