OPS Free Of Spud Blame
D. M. Osborne, OPS price executive for Nebraska, says potato shortages stemmed from removal of price supports and a bad 1951 crop, not OPS ceilings. He notes 1951 stocks were fixed during the planting season and 1952 actions cannot alter them. W. W. Keenan says investigations into Nebraska potato dealer violations are under way, with multiple injunctive and treble damages filed nationwide.
