Sweet Clover for Seed and Hay Management
Nebraska Agricultural College advises clipping second year sweet clover for seed to hay or pasture early in spring. If cut too late or at 8 to 10 inches height, white blossom clover may die, requiring special sickle bar shoes and increasing handling difficulty. Pasturing the second year clover early in spring promotes a sturdy permanent pasture and reduces harvest hazards.
