Introduction of the brown trout to America in 1833

The brown trout, not native to America, was introduced in 1833 from Europe where it had long been favored. Eggs came from Von Behr of the German fisheries society, earning it the name Von Behr trout or German trout. Brown trout tolerate warmer waters and remain active at high temperatures, with a notable cautious, nocturnal feeding behavior.
