Nebraska approves stiffer child abuse penalties
Lincoln legislators pass LB38 amendments setting a maximum penalty of one year in jail or a $3,000 fine for child abuse, replacing higher proposed limits. Debate cites risk of reduced prosecutions and alternative statutes for severe cases.
