Sidney council names elderly housing complex and street
The city approved Western Heritage Apartments for the 40 unit complex and Heritage Street for the drive. The Heritage Center will house the community center, and a separate naming was set for the circle drive within the site. Controversies remain over wastewater facilities and parking meters. A 10 member committee will study removing meters, with Mayor Matzke and Ed Haupt appointed. Public input included retailer concerns over meter effectiveness and signatures on petitions. A separate public hearing discussed a new sewage plant location east of Lodgepole Creek with a bio filter plan. Some residents opposed the site due to proximity to homes and impact on property values.
