Cancer session set in Sidney at Senior Center

A cancer seminar will be held at 30 pm Thursday, March 31, at the Senior Citizen Center in Sidney. Four short films will be shown with Q and A periods. Sidney doctor James Thayer and Mrs Lonnie Happold, Cheyenne County American Cancer Society chair, will help answer questions. Potter couple wins honor farm award

The Cheyenne County Honor Farm Award will go to Mr and Mrs Wilfred Nelson of Potter for conserving land and water. A dinner at Buffalo Bend on March 31 at 7 pm will present a color aerial photo of their farm by Far-Mer Co-op of Potter. Vincent Wright of Sidney will show a slide program Flora and Fauna of Western Nebraska. Carpenter to speak at WIFE meeting in Sidney

Former State Sen Terry Carpenter of Scottsbluff will address the Women Involved in Farm Economics group at 1 30 pm Wednesday March 30 at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel in Sidney. The event is open to the public with limited seating. Carpenter has accused property tax assessments of being illegal and organized cases before the Nebraska Supreme Court challenging farm machinery taxation. He recently rejected by the Senate for the sunshine commission. State Sen Loran Schmit will speak April 5 at 2 30 p.m. to the same WIFE group in Sidney.

Snow Returns to Panhandle

A potent storm moved into the Nebraska Panhandle with forecasts of heavy snow. Four inches or more could blanket the Panhandle by Tuesday morning as a low pressure system spurred mixed precipitation across the state.

Sidney and Alliance youths win district public speaking titles

Thursday deadline for '76 wheat loans in region

With Thursday March 31 as the final day for 1976 crop wheat loans through the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, Cheyenne County reports over 300 loans and more than a million bushels under loan.
