Fire destroys F. FE. Brothwell home near Torrington Wyoming
The F. FE. Brothwell family lost their home and all possessions Monday of last week when a fire swept their isolated residence. Neighbors could not reach them in time due to the remote location, amplifying the severity of the loss for the large family. Ware brothers of Gering barely escaped injury Friday when their sedan veered into a ditch to avoid a wagon driven by Joe Cinder who had stopped with a load of sand to recover a dropped whip. The crash damaged an axle, shattered glass, and left the occupants with scratches.

Passing of an old landmark in Nebraska’s North Platte valley
The Telegraph recalls the Clark bridge near Sidney built by Henry T. Clark in 1876 to cross the North Platte. The toll bridge connected Camp Clark and nearby trails to the Black Hills, drawing heavy traffic and army protection, before railroads and changes doomed the landmark. It notes tolls, operations, and Clark’s broader ventures including an attempted boat crossing, a then-ongoing toll system, and later county transfer in 1895.
