Gering Bulldogs defeated Sidney Maroons 42 to 35 at Scottsbluff to capture the district class B championship. Bill Campbell led Gering with 16 points aided by Wilford Kaufman 15 and other contributions while Sidney fought hard, with Stan Smith injuring a leg in the final minutes. Kimball beat Chadron 51-41 in the separate consolation game.

John Harden Gets Wesleyan Monogram

Fourteen Nebraska Wesleyan University players are eligible for varsity letters. Athletic Board Chairman Marian Sederburg announced in Lincoln that players meeting one third of season halves were recommended by Coach John A Grayson. Letters earned by seven freshmen six sophomores and one junior with seven others listed from Lincoln and beyond.

Three Sidney marksmen claim season opening titles

In Roscoe the first registered shoot of the season saw Sidney shooters take most honors. Roland Waite earned the high over all trophy with top averages in singles doubles and handicap. Barney Anthony won the class C cup with 93 while Spec Ennis shot 94 to win class D. Bud Juenne of Scottsbluff took class A with 97 and George Zimmerman of Big Springs won class B on 92. Sidney Gun Club members present included Wayne Kennedy Al Jorgenson Les Stecher Jess Tompkins Ralph Fleming and Cliff Treinen.
