Wheat storage plan eyed to avert 1953 surplus

Senator Dwight Griswold reports assurances from Agriculture Secretary Benson and Undersecretary Morse that steps are in place to prevent a 1953 wheat storage crisis. Nebraska’s farm storage is near capacity as CCC loans mature April 30, with 60 days to take possession. Government aims to move 1952 crop wheat from warehouse storage to terminal locations and utilize CCC storage facilities to handle all wheat expected to be delivered.
