Linda Lee Groskopf three months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Groskopf of North Platte died suddenly at home Friday night. Funeral services were held Monday at The Craig Mortuary Sidney with Rev. Dr. Benj. F. Schwartz in charge. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery. Born December 4 1952 in North Platte she is survived by her parents and grandparents Mrs. Anna Groskopf of Scottsbluff Mrs. Opal Kretz and Fred Kretz of Sidney.

The February term of district court in Cheyenne County will reopen in mid March with March 20 set as the hearing date for the case State vs Harvey Livingston charged with writing no account checks. The State vs Thomas Marshall, charged with uttering a forged instrument, may also be heard. Marshall was arrested after passing a forged check bearing the name Emroy B. Piercy at a local liquor store.

Leonard Carl Freeburg 62 a well known Mud Springs area farmer died Friday after an extended illness at Dalton hospital. Services will be 2 pm Wednesday at Dalton Presbyterian Church with Rev Don Daly in charge. Burial in Dalton Cemetery under Craig Mortuary. Pallbearers listed. Born April 29 1890 in Rawlins County Kansas he moved to Bloomfield Nebraska as a youth. He married Connie Andrews in 1914 and moved to Dayton in 1916 where he farmed. Survived by widow three sons Wayne Tracy California Orville Helena Montana and Russell serving in the Navy in the Mediterranean, three grandchildren three sisters and other relatives. Preceded in death by son Stanley 1944 and brother Will.

Wreck Near Merino Promptly Cleared by UP Crew
A Union Pacific wrecker crew were sent to Colorado near Merino Friday to clear a freight train wreck that derailed eleven cars earlier that day. No injuries were reported. Traffic was diverted around the site with passenger trains using the main line to Cheyenne then Denver. Four cars overturned and wheels and coal lay along the right of way. Rail officials did not provide a damage estimate, but several cars appeared beyond repair.

Lions Meeting Here Sunday Postponed by Bad Roads
The District Lion Governor's Council, planned for here Sunday, was postponed due to weather. Local Lions and their ladies still attended, helping with food and sharing an evening. Final tally for the annual drive for funds sponsored here for the Wye-Braska Council of the Boy Scouts of America exceeded $2,300. Advance gifts reached about $1,000 before solicitation began. Dr. Marvin Sherrerd was general chairman, L. K. Nelson led the advance gifts committee, and Dr. H. C. Nelson headed the general solicitation committee. Direct solicitation has been discontinued but donations are still accepted. Sherrerd praised the drive leaders for the strong response and noted Sidney shows vital interest in Scouting.
