The Republic an county Republican Central Committee has recommended Donald R. Shipman to become acting postmaster in Sidney Nebraska. If approved by Rep. A. L. Miller the appointment would take effect immediately and a competitive examination will be held for the permanent postmaster position. Shipman, a Sidney native and Navy veteran, has worked at the post office since 1934 and is viewed as capable to discharge postmaster duties.

Blood Donor File Open for Public Inspection
A file of prospective blood donors by blood type is available for doctors and the public at the Sidney Police Station 24 hours a day. Mrs. Rena McCleneghan secretary for the Cheyenne County Chapter of the American Red Cross says the file was compiled from Blood For Freedom train donors and past donor lists. She emphasizes it is a walking blood bank open to all donors and anyone else interested in contacting donors.

More than 4100 feet of oil was recovered from the drill stem test last week as Ohio plans geophysical work in the Marlowe field to reach deeper structures away from a gas cap in the D sand interval. Pair Held For Breaking Into Automobiles
Sidney police held two men, Jack L. Wheeland and Marvin J. Ballard, after they broke into several local cars early morning. Miss Violet Shepherd’s car and other vehicles were ransacked, a laundry bag and suitcase found in Wheeland's car. Police identified them from a witness report and seized additional items as investigation continues.
