New Pastor Townsend Preaches at Sidney Methodist Church
The Rev Robert L Townsend named as new pastor of the Sidney Methodist Church arrives with his wife and children from Chadron after six years there. He succeeds Dr Benj F Schwartz who moves to Omaha. Townsend is a Northwestern Garrett School graduate with past charges in Greenwood Ordway Lincoln and Chadron. The Chadron church reports membership growth from 350 in 1947 to 544 now and a major building program nearly debt free.
