Funeral services were held Monday for Marvin Hagler 32 of Bethany and Kenneth Conner 35 of Gering, victims of a truck auto collision that raised Cheyenne County highway deaths to five. Potter collision ends in two deaths near Point of Rocks
Eyewitnesses say a Plymouth crossed into the oncoming lane at the turn around near east of Potter, colliding with Hagler who attempted to avoid it. The car swung south, a van rolled, helped by Delaware Trucking equipment, catching fire. Hagler died from scalp wounds. the car driver perished from chest and head injuries. State and local officers led the investigation with Potter Fire Department volunteers aiding at the scene. Furniture and vehicles suffered total losses with extensive property damage estimated at $16,300 to $20,000. Authorities stored items in Sidney and awaited Bekins direction.
