4-H Citizenship Tour Heads to Washington and New York
Forty seven 4-H members depart by chartered bus and car for Washington D C and the New York World's Fair. The trip, led by County Agent Ivan Liljegren, runs until June 17 with visits to Mount Vernon, Jefferson Memorial, National Archives, Lincoln Memorial, Tomb of the Unknowns, the Grave of President Kennedy, the White House, and meetings with Nebraska Congressmen.

Washington trip ends as 4-H group heads to World’s Fair
The 4-H youths will finish their Washington stay on June 13 and tour the World’s Fair before returning to Sidney. En route they will stop at McCook at 9 a.m. today and pass through several states including Illinois Indiana Ohio Pennsylvania and Iowa before resuming old Highway 30 through Nebraska. Leaders and sponsors are listed among the participants, with a Wee Willing Workers health project update and monthly weight and height reporting starting this summer.

Wednesday Mishap Damage Extensive on Sidney Streets
Three two car accidents on Sidney streets caused extensive damage. At 11:52 a.m. Donald D. Foxhaven 16 was charged with failure to yield after colliding with Frank W. Thompson’s eastbound vehicle. Thompson’s car sustained $429 damage and Foxhaven’s $145. At 1:54 p.m. Doris J. Butterfield slowed to turn left onto Pine and was rear ended by Jerry Swanson whose brakes reportedly failed. Butterfield suffered a sore neck with no damage report yet. A 4:26 p.m. backing mishap in Town and Country lot left Eva M. Devig’s car backing into Clark L. Marsh’s parked car. Marsh’s vehicle incurred $21 damage, Devig’s nothing.
