A Sidney Chamber of Commerce led plan calls for weekly Thursday noon luncheons to brainstorm future city growth. Industrial Council members expect to discuss creating at least 630 new jobs in three years to replace Sioux Army Depot losses. Sidney Public School Budget Sets At 953205

The Sidney Board of Education approved a 953 205 budget Monday night up from 889 670 last year. The increase funds new staff additions and benefits, social security, drivers education expansions, and tennis court renovations. Federal and state aid reduce reliance on taxes, with a proposed levy rise of about 2.5 mills.

Area Surveys Show Western Nebraska Crops Rallying

Dryland crops and range lands in western Nebraska are in excellent condition entering June after cool weather and recent rain, reversing late May fears of drought damage. Wheat should grow substantially in the next two weeks with moisture. harvest possible around July 10 if conditions stay favorable.

Cheyenne County commissioners accepted the low bid of 2389.95 with trade from Kokjer Motor Co for a new panel truck at their Tuesday meeting.

Youths Deny Arson Action in Sidney District Court

Four youths charged with arson entered not guilty pleas before District Judge John Kuns. Fred Gonzales 17 and Jim Trujillo 21 face three counts each with counsel named. LeRoy Apodeca 19 and Reuben Gonzales 15 also charged in the Christmas night District 97 schoolhouse fire. Gonzales and Trujillo were arrested after a barn fire at Joe Dodds farm west of Sidney and a car fire owned by David Heizer.

Three Youths Arrested For Assault On Drive In Owner

Parkview Drive In owner Don Challburg was severely injured when three youths twisted his arm behind his back. County Attorney charged Bill Harvey Tom Harvey and Donald Deaver with assault with intent to inflict great bodily injury. Bail set at $300 each.

Sidney Chamber Considers New Membership Year

The Sidney Chamber of Commerce board studies shifting from a calendar year to an Oct 1–Sept 30 schedule. A decision is expected soon after morning discussions at Rail's Cafe. The group also moved the teacher appreciation luncheon from late August to a fall night dinner. Wayne Moran said the change would give members more time to meet teachers. Endorsement for the Jaycee house numbering campaign was approved as it gets underway this week.

McCOOK NE 88 percent sign up of Nebraska wheat land for the 1964 certificate program shows a strong desire among wheat growers to join a national effort. Ervain Friede, McCook, NWGA public relations chair, notes 2,609,891 of 2,967,489 acres are signed up, praising the participation and NWGA role while aiming for higher wheat prices toward parity.

Clara May Fulton 91 died at her Cheyenne County farm home six miles southwest of Sidney from a heart attack. Funeral at First Methodist Church with Rev. John Stayton at 2 p m Thursday.
