Savage hail leaves vast Cheyenne County wheat destroyed
A dry hail storm ripped through Cheyenne County this morning, carving a jagged path from southwest of Dalton to east of Dalton and north of Gurley. Wheat losses may reach a quarter to half a million bushels, with many farms reporting 10 to 85 percent damage and broken windows. Insurance adjustors will begin appraisals Tuesday as officials warn of continued unsettled weather and a cool, wet week ahead.

Cheyenne County 4-H delegates reach Washington D C for Citizenship Short Course after delays in Pennsylvania. The 340 teenagers from five states tour landmarks, attend a keynote on citizenship, and plan visits to Mount Vernon and federal sites. Mill whiskey theft yields few leads to date
Chief Sol Willis said police checked several suspects after two bottles were stolen from Mill Package Liquor Store at 1505 Tenth. The burglars did not enter the building, broke a north side window, and escaped with the bottles around 3 am Friday. The whiskey was valued at about $12.

Weekend Wrecks Lead To Two Filed Charges
Accidents Friday night and Saturday morning produced two charges against motorists. Thomas Haskell of Lodgepole was struck at 10 55 p m on 10th Avenue by Clark Fuller of Sidney who faced a failing to yield charge. Damages to Haskell’s car were 150 with Fuller’s unestimated. Walter Tyler of Sidney was cited for drinking while driving after hitting a parked Minot car at 12 45 a m. Damages to both vehicles were about 45 dollars. A collision at 13th and Illinois left Sutton and Rosalie Wood with 80 dollars in damage. Fay Tomlin of Cheyenne was struck while pulling from Legion Park lot by Oscar McClun with damages 45 and 20 respectively. No injuries reported.

He previously led the Dalton Lions Club and was deputy district governor for two years. Dewey Laketa opened a new real estate office at 1531 Tenth Ave Sidney after obtaining his Nebraska realtor license last week. He moved to Sidney in 1960 to own and operate The Mill package store and lounge and previously worked in real estate in HaOis for four years.
