Historic Daniel Boone maps drawn by six men
In Manchester Kentucky six surveyors between 1920 and 1927 drew 27 freehand maps of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Government land surveyor John Earle says replacing them would take at least 20 years of resurveying. The set’s average error is about one in 5 000, described as excellent. The originals were recently copied to preserve the collection. At the Air Force Academy a Lumbee cadet displays a 130 year old family tomahawk in his dorm room.
