Noise rules studied for farm workers in Nebraska study
Researchers Neil Sullivan and Rollin Schnieder from the University of Nebraska Lincoln studied farm noise exposure at a June ASAE meeting in Raleigh North Carolina. They found that average agricultural workers would not exceed current industrial noise standards if precautions are taken with equipment. Six employers provided equipment use data and noise dosages were measured over a year. They will advise the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and indicate no standard for agricultural workers is likely without safeguards on certain machinery.
