Wheat as Feed Substitutes for Cattle in Nebraska
Western Nebraska cattle feeders may substitute wheat for corn as harvest prices align. University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension expert Bill Fulton notes Nebraska wheat prices locally below corn, with break-even near 2.60 to 2.63 per bushel, and explains processing, feeding rates, protein content, and management steps for safe substitution. Keith Gilster adds swine can substitute wheat pound for pound for corn.
